Week 13 - Big Butt

The walk for this week is a character with a big butt. The character can walk anyway you like as long as he/she/it junk in the trunk. There should be both a sense of form and a feeling of weight in said booty. Let's see some huge asses. Happy Animating.

Week 12 - ice ice baby

I kept this one a lot rougher than usual. I wanted to make it longer and not worry about getting it really clean. I focused much more on the movement than the look of the character.

yeah...so I tried to do a sexy walk, but it turned out more dainty. Since I haven't posted in a while, that will go in for that one...My friend Stacy Thompson did the flapping bird.

Week 12 - Slippery Surface

For this walk the character is walking on a slippery surface. The character is up to you. He/she/it can handle the slippery surface anyway you chose as long as it is clear the surface is slippery. Happy Animating!

Week 11 - The Moonwalk

I animated a moonwalk. I had not posted it yet when my computer got a virus. I may be able to salvage the file, but I am not optimistic. I am posting this as a placeholder incase I do find the file. Also, I am posting this to show that I am not posting themes without animating them.

Week 11 - Caricature Walk

The Theme for this week is a caricatured walk. All the walks thus far have been caricatured, but this one is to be caricatured from a specific walk. Find a video of someone walking that you find funny or entertaining, study the motion, then animate you're own version. The character can be anything you want and does not have to relate to the real walk you use.

Week 10 - 12 beat rhyno


This was a fun walk.  I put my music collection on shuffle and picked the first song that had a 12 frame beat.

Week 10 - 12 beat to music

The theme for this week is syncing to a musical beat, specifically a 12 frame beat.  The walk must be a cycle where the contact falls on the beat.  It must be repeated with music behind it that also has a 12 frame beat.  Mark Mayerson wrote an excellent post about using a metronome to time animation.  The post will give you all the basics to figure out this weeks walk.  If you want to learn even more about it Amir Avni wrote two posts about studying cartoons for musical timing.

Here is my attempt at the sexy walk.  Making things move slowly and smoothly is difficult.  I spent a lot of time cleaning this up yet it still looks off.

Week 9 - Sexy Walk

I have been away for a couple weeks, hence the lack of posts.  Now, I'm back and ready to animate.  This week's theme is a sexy walk.  For me, that would be a sultry, feminine walk; but you can animate whatever type of walk you think is sexy.  Happy Animating.
